Not a lot of people know this but you can actually run Java in Visual Studio, granted its limited but the IDE can understand the basics of the language by default.
Now the primarily .net IDE is now branching out to Python as a main language. As IDE's go Visual studio is in a class of its own, maybe only slightly out classed by the highly specialised WebStorm designed only for html/js development. Now Python can benefit from a enterprise development solution and integrate with other Microsoft solutions.
Most Python developers wont want to completely transition from the database or cloud solutions they are used too but at least they can now manage from the same location in Visual Studio
Build, debug, profile, test, and deploy your Python apps using Python Tools for Visual Studio. This free, open-source extension adds all the functionality you need to develop and maintain your Python applications in Visual Studio, and deploy to Windows or Linux servers, or to Microsoft Azure.
