Every time I head back up north to my partners parents a feud eventually starts out between her and her sister on who has the better job. They both have reasonably good jobs for different reasons.
The thing that eventually quells this conversation is me telling them how I could replace either of them with a machine.
I'm usually shouted at for a while after that....
Will machines take your job? Probably, eventually. Who knows. It wont just happen over night. Hopefully the conversion will open up other kinds of jobs or will create a system where there is less need to work. If I was to be a pesimist though I'd say it will probably mirror the past and we will see a repeat of something similar to the miner strikes.
